Asia Botto’s research is focused on the development of a BONCAT (Bioorthogonal Noncanonical Amino Acid Tagging) protocol aimed at detecting specific biomarkers present on extracellular vesicles produced by pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC) using microproteomics protocols.
The project aims to enable early diagnosis of PDAC which is one of the cancers with the lowest life expectancy.
She graduated in Chemistry at the University of Genoa and obtained her Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Pisa.
She is a student of the PhD program in Chemistry and Material Science of the University of Pisa and she spends most of her research time at the Fondazione Pisana per la Scienza, under the supervision of Dr. Liam McDonnell.
