Ivano Squiccimarro

Phd Student

Since the beginning of Ivano Squiccimarro’s academic journey, his interests have been oriented toward nanobiotechnology for biomedical applications, particularly the development of nanoparticle-based delivery systems to target challenging tumors. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from the Università del Salento (2018), where he investigated the role of ceruloplasmin in monocytic adhesion processes. He then pursued a Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnology (Nanobiotechnologies curriculum) at the Università degli Studi di Trieste (2021), focusing on the characterization and biological interactions of hybrid gold/polymer nanoparticles. During this time, he expanded his research skills through an Erasmus traineeship at the Centre for BioNano Interactions, University College Dublin (Ireland).

Currently, as a Ph.D. student in Nanoscience at the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa, Italy), Ivano is engineering siRNA-targeting nanoparticle systems to induce a BRCA-like phenotype in acute leukemia cells. By leveraging synthetic lethality within DNA damage response pathways, his goal is to develop novel, tumor-specific therapeutic strategies for cancers with high unmet medical needs.

In parallel, he is also enrolled in the sMBA (Science Management and Business Administration) program at the CDI – Collège des Ingénieurs in Torino, broadening his expertise at the intersection of scientific research and business innovation.
