Francesca Di Lorenzo
Technical Staff
Francesca Di Lorenzo has a degree in Biological Sciences and a master’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Pisa.
She is currently working as a Research Technician at the ‘Fondazione Pisana per la Scienza (FPS), collaborating with two distinct research groups.
The first is the genomics group of Dr. Chiara Maria Mazzanti which deals with the study of tumors, in particular glioblastoma and osteosarcoma. Francesca Di Lorenzo contributes to carrying out the team’s studies using molecular biology techniques and applying Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques.
The second group is headed by Doctor Matteo Vecellio who works in the field of rheumatology and musculoskeletal diseases. In the last twenty years, it has been understood that thanks to genomics and the 3D study of the genome it will be possible to reveal the mechanisms underlying these disease. At the Fondazione Italiana Ricerca sull’Artrite (FIRA) Research Center in collaboration with FPS in Pisa, Francesca Di Lorenzo mainly partecipates in the study of the human microbiome of the urine and cervico-vaginal systems in patients affected by rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthritis.
